No. Use both. An instructor teaches in their car; Ivarlo helps you teach the hours between those lessons well, so the two of you arrive at each one further along.
Both. Manual is the default, and every step switches to the automatic version where it differs.
If your own licence carries an automatic condition, you can only supervise in an automatic. Check before the first drive.
Start where they are. Your first stretch is free, wherever you start: they begin at the track that suits them, and the first course of that track is free. The stops before it stay open to drive. Hours you've already logged count toward the 80, but not toward the 20 driven in the app.
Yes. A second supervisor joins on their own phone and works from the same plan, picking up where the last drive ended.
To supervise in WA you need to have held a licence for the class of car for at least four years.
The first lessons are free, right up to the car moving: Car Setup & Controls and Moving Off & Stopping, 5 lessons and 2 checkpoints. The kitchen-table drills are free for everyone. $299, once, covers the whole course for your first learner: every track, the Side Roads, both phones, the logbook and resit cover.
See pricingEach extra learner is $199, with the same resit cover and their own free start.
Yes. Lessons run offline, and everything syncs when you're back in range.
Each seat sees its own half. You get the coaching; your learner gets their prep and their progress. Mood ratings and prep answers never leave the phone they were entered on.
Each drive is logged as the lesson ends, and night hours are credited from sunset. You can export the logbook when it's needed.
The log book is a legal document. Only sign for drives that really happened.
The law today: 50 supervised hours, including 5 at night.
Announced, not in force: the WA Government announced 80 hours including 10 at night on 26 April 2026. Legislation is still to come and there is no start date.
Ivarlo's target: 80 including 10 at night. It matches the announced figure, but it is our target, not the law. The hours rules apply to learners under 25.
Current rules at Transport WAThere is no logged-hours requirement for learners 25 and over. The course works the same way. Resit cover still asks for 80 hours including 10 at night, as Ivarlo's own condition on its own refund.
If a covered learner finishes every lesson and checkpoint from where they started, logs 80 hours including 10 at night with at least 20 driven in the app, and doesn't pass their first practical assessment, we refund the $120.50 resit fee. A person checks every claim, and can decline one where the drive log shows lessons completed faster than they could be driven. It isn't a pass guarantee.
The full conditionsPick up where you left off. Stamps, hours and the logbook don't go backwards.
Right up to the car moving. Your first stretch is free, wherever you start.
